Running SBS Premium with SP1. Sharepoint is using MSDE. -Unable to connect to Companyweb, receive error "Cannot connect to the configuration database." - Every 5 x seconds event 1000 #50070 that STS_config could not be opened. - SQLAgent Sharepoint quits with "Not allowed to run" - Disabling of the SP Timer service will stop the 5 x second error 1000 logging Tried making SharePoint Timer dependant on MSSQL$Sharepoint. Tried changing service accounts that MSSQL$Sharepoint and SharePoint Timer use. Also tried setting the configuration database server in Central Administration, but received error 17 (database doesn't exist or permission error) Could not remove and reinstall Sharepoint as per 829114, though. Could not remove the Intranet component because in Step 5 I couldn't change Server Tools to Maintenance. (I'm seeing Install even though it is installed, and I'm seeing upgrade for many other components that are already installed and patched with SP1) This seems eerily similar to the problems Ken-T was describing. Suggestions?

Hi, I have bought an HP ML110 with win SBS 2003 At the end of the installation, I need to launch 'Continue Setup' to allow the configuration as Domain Controller. But, when I launch the setup, I have the following message: Setup Requirements Blocking Issue: "Windows Small Business Server does not support Internet Connection Sharing" When I click on the help, it explains me how to desactivate this feature, but the place the help mentions does not exist Here is the help: 1 Right-click the connection name, and then click Properties. 2 Click the Advanced tab. 3 Under Internet Connection Sharing, clear the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box, and then click OK. On the Advanced tab, I only have mattes about Windows Firewall. The problem is that if I didn't continue the setup, the SBCore shuts down the server after 2 hours. Can anybody help me? Regards

Offline folders keep going offline

Postby Adrian Marsh (NNTP) » Wed, 22 Aug 2007 04:11:46 GMT

Hi,

On my SBS network, I make use of Offline Folders within XP, mapped to
shares on my SBS server (home areas etc).

Its a simple LAN (one subnet, approx 60 PCs).

CPU of the server is averaged at 10-20%.

However for some reason, my PC and several others keep loosing
connections to the shares, and put themselves in offline mode.

I've checked the event logs of clients/servers, and don't see anything
obvious.

Any tips on debugging why this keeps happening?

Adrian

Sorry forgot to say:

Using my PC as a template:

- Desktop Machine (XP Pro, loads of RAM/CPU spare)
- ICMP time to server is <1ms constantly

Not sure what else triggers Offline files to kick in..

A.

Anyone have an idea for debugging this?
Would adding a second DC help? Or making the share part of DFS and
adding a second server?

I am suffering this with some laptops. Look for my thread elsewhere. I
was told to change the power settings and update nic drivers. I will
try that today and report back in my thread.

No a second DC and dfs is not the solution. I have plenty of accounts
that do not have this issue. Currently it appears that just 2 accounts
that have Dells are having this issue. Actually 3 accounts. Another
sympton is that they cannot \\servername but can \\serverip to see
shares. Taht is my quick test of broke or good.

1.Keep offline files from going offline with slow connection

I am having a hard time keeping systems from going off line when
connected via VPN or even a 10 meg (or better even) wireless. We need
off line files enabled, but ONLY when they are really off line. I
tried setting the GPO for the "Configure slow link speed" to 1 so that
even if it is a 1k connection it will still stay on line, but they
still go off line when on VPN or wireless. Again, it's not even slow
connections that it is doing this with, so I'm a bit lost...

Any idea what I can do about this?

2.Offline Files - Computer keeps going offline

My computer keeps going into offline state even though I
am still connected to the local area network. If I
syncronize it will reconnect fine. Any ideas how to keep
it online?

3.xp clients - offline folders - always going offline

Good Morning

probably an old issue but i cant't find a solution

sbs 2k3 + xp sp3 clients

scenario : redirected 'my documents' folder is working, between all client
machines and laptops.
BUT !!
on two xp sp3 machines, the offline folders icon keeps prompting to be
offline. if users force a syncronization, all goes well, for a few
minutes, and goes back to offline mode.
the thing is, no files can be deleted and sometimes, a file gets two
versions. the local and the server hosted.

other than that, all seems to be working fine.
when the offline prompt is active, web access works, outlook works.

changed the slow connection threshold, but no good.

the major issue here is that it's the two bosses machines.

can anyone point me on a solution ??
thank you

4.Offline folders going offline when connected.

Several different XP Pro machines that are using the
Offline Files and Folders option continuously go Offline.
If this feature is turned on, it actually tells the PC it
is offline until they click the Offline Files icon in the
task bar and click OK and then is resumes to the online
status. This occurs with wireless connections and wired
connections. Is there a way to fix this problem, it is
extremely irritating. Thanks.

5.Redirected folders keep going offline every few seconds

Hi,
I have a server (Win2K3 Standard) with shared folders that are used for
Group Policy Folder Redirection.
The client PC's are XP Pro on the same domain, same subnet, same location.
When I
log in as a user, they can see all the shares on the server. Then a few
seconds later I get an Icon on the bottom from Offile Files that the server
is Unavailable for Reconnect. and all the shares dissappear except for the
users redirected folder location on the server. But when I tell it to synch,
it does it fine and I can see the files. Then the message reappears. This
happens every few seconds after I tell it to synch.
I have no idea whats causing this.
All firewalls on the network connection have been completely disabled.
Can anyone suggest anything? Anything at all I can check as I am totally
stumped.
