I pasted to Word and Paint etc - same bad picture - the size is wring and the colors are awful. THIS is how it looks using Microsoft capture copy /paste commands: BUT if I define a hotkey and use my old dos "Printkey" app - the snapshot is fine - like so: Bobb

OK, was working yesterday fine. Now with the new update I can no longer access the Internet via the PC (I normally use Bluetooth for this). I have tried to remove the update, but it is not listed in "Installed Updates" (most of these just list a number with no date) but the update IS listed in "Update History". This means I can't remove the update and go back to it working again. Any advice before I resort to System Restore?

Printer Keeps Going Offline

Postby raott » Sun, 10 Aug 2008 23:34:08 GMT

I have an HP OfficeJet 7210 All-In-One Printer connected to my router
It has always worked fine.

I recently replaced my old XP laptop with a new laptop running Vista
Home 32 bit and since that time, I have an issue with the printer
constantly going "offline" at seeming random times.

When this occurs, if I attempt to print anything, it shows as "pending"
in the print que but does not print until the laptop is rebooted.

I thought it may have something to do with the laptop going into sleep
mode (as I saw others post about that problem), however, that is not the
case with mine ---this morning, I printed a document, then a few minutes
later, attempted to print another one and the printer was now "offline".

Any ideas?

See if this helps:

Open Control Panel>Printers> r/click the printer>choose "Run as
Administrator">then click "Use Printer Online".

Useless attempt. It only works on the board you are accessing these
groups from.

The rest of us out here in the REAL Usenet world only see that one
word - and have no idea what you are talking about.

Similar Threads:

1.A working printer keeps going offline

We have a networked Brother printer that can be accessed and printed
to by anyone and everything except via the terminal server. It says
offline and when we try to bring it online it says Operation could not
be completed.

All other printers are just fine, and the web interface to the printer
says everything is goow. Help!

Please. It's the owners printer.

2.Printers keep going offline for no reason

All 4 of the printers in our offline on the network keep going offline.
Sometimes if we delete all items in the queue and recycle the power they
come back online. It is a completely random occurrence, I have checked the
network cables, I can ping the printers, but sometimes they bring themselves
back online, other times they don't! They are all different brands or
models but it happens to any of them. Three are over five years old and
never had this problem until recently.

What else can I check?

3.Printers keep going offline

We have three printers on our network that are shared by everyone. They are
different brands and different ages.
Randomly any one of them will stop printing and if you look at the
properties it will say that printer is offline. Sometimes removing
everything from the print queue and restarting it works. Sometimes you have
to power if off completely. Sometimes nothing works. The print spooler on
the server and PC never seems to be stopped, and stopping and starting it
doesn't change anything.
But, a few hours, or days later, all of a sudden it is online again as
though nothing happened. This happens at least once a week, to a random
printer.

What would cause this?

4.Printer keeps going offline

I have 2 networked computers, one XP and one Vista, sharing a printer through
a wireless router. The printer is always online with the XP, but regularly
drops offline with the Vista. I've found no way to get the printer back
online execpt to reinstall it. How can I prevent this, or at least to get the
printer back online without reinstalling?

5.Printer Driver keeps going offline

My printer's driver seems be set at " offline " at times.

I turn the computer off when not in use, & I don't think the setting
goes to "offline" while the computer is on, only if I turn the
computer off.

& I cannot say if it always happens when the computer is turned off
either.

It should always say " ready " right?

It's not a real big deal, as I can always access the control panel &
set it to " ready ", but it is a pain in the butt, especially of I am
on the Interent & want to print something.

I don't think it matters, but it is a Brother MFC 5100C USB driver.
(Could it be the driver's fault somehow?)
