I use an ATI X1300 Pro. Like you, I always uninstalled the previous CCC before installing an update. It is common knowledge that ATI drivers are troublesome to install. I decided long ago to just leave CCC alone and not update it unless it was a necessity. ATI releases more driver updates than any other graphics card vendor, mostly to satisfy the gamers. If you are not a gamer there is really no need for you to ever update the graphics card driver unless you are experiencing a problem or need to update it for compatibility. • 3. Restore impossible and firewall...
Hi to you all, and particularly to Rick and Mark, I had problems of restoring my laptop in safe mode only. Your suggestions lead nowhere (not you fault). I therefore decide to do a clean new install of Vista and the straight system restore became possible again. Fine enough ! Then I installed the ZoneAlarm firewall which ended up in the same impossibility to restore. I came back to the original nice Vista settings, and tried to install the PCTools firewall. Then again restoring became impossible. Hence my question: am I the only idiot in the world (very likely so, if I listen to my wife...) to experience this problem, or did I miss a step down the stairs. Thanks for you enlightenment -- Best of luck JL

Installing Macromedia Flash Player on Windows Vista Basic

Postby dGluYWxvdmU » Sun, 17 Jun 2007 09:38:00 GMT

I want to be able to run my video camera from the computer so that I can get
a video off it, but whenever I try, my computer tells me that I need to
install Macromedia Flash Player. When I install Flash from the Adobe
website it says that in was install ok. When I go to try to find Flash on
computer, it is not there.

What can I do, if I can't have macromedia on my computer then what am I
supposed to do to use my camera with my computer.

I just bought a brand new laptop and pc with vista basic already on it.

Hi tinalove,

Flash doesn't install a stand alone program that you can click on to
run. It's a add-on for your Internet Explorer. It sounds like it
installed ok, but to double check:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools (at top)
3. Click Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons
4. Check the listings under "SHOW" and you should see "Shockwave Flash
Object"
5. If yes, then it's installed.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Ok, I did what you said and yes it did install but I have one other question.

I got a new Sony Handycam and it came with it's own cd so I thought I
wouldn't have any problems. The problem I am having with my camera with
Vista is that when I try to start up the program that lets me view my videos
on my computer, it keeps telling me that "To run this application, you need
to install Macromedia Flash Player first"

What do I need to do in order to get my camera working on my computer?????

I am very frustrated because before I did a few updates to vista, I couldn't
even get the computer to recognize my camera. I am still running vista
basic.
