In the previous Outlook Express I was able to show my Contacts List in the far left column under the Folders List. So it was always available. Is this possible now in Windows Mail? How do I get it to show up there? Thank you for any help!

Hi. ..and may I ask why, such simple, productive and usefull tool, would be removed from Windows mail client?! I must say that this is wrong move and it can not be justifyed with ANY reason. Vista should be more easy, not complicated to use, I guess... -- Muad_Dib
I am SO with Sabrina and the many other people on this messageboard! I also loved having all my contacts right there on the bottom left of my email program. It will be odd to adjust & definately not as user-friendly to have to open up the entire "contacts" folder and do a search. BUT I'm sure we'll all get used to it! It's just too bad they didn't make the "old" option available darren
What's outlook express LIVE? I've heard of an email program named Windows Mail and one named Windows Live Mail, but not that one.
Sorry, I wanted to say but a bit confused with all those MS changes - LIVE this, LIVE that.... After a while I think that Microsoft just wants to push us to BUY MS OFFICE and to use MS Outlook instead of Express LIVE. -- Muad_Dib
1.Cannot create contact groups (mailing lists)-cannot add contact to list
I have some problems with the mail program in Microsoft Mail: When I click on the Contact icon on the toolbar above the mail it brings me to a list of my contacts with the "Date Modified, Type (Contact file) and Size. When I right click on that window there are only a few choices such as VIEW, Sort By, Group by (which puts the names in alphabetical order, etc. The only thing I can do at this point is click on a name that is already there and change their information. I cannot add a contact to my list unless I have an actual email that I've received from that person. Also, I cannot create contact groups (mailing lists) from my contact list. I wanted to take some of the names on my contact list and put them into groups. I've checked the Help files and they say to open Windows Contacts and on the toolbar click New Contact Group. The problem is "New Contact Group" does not appear on the tool bar. Can someone tell me how to fix this-it seems that I'm not staying within the mail program but I'm going to just folder with the list of contacts.
2.Moving Windows Mail contacts to Outlook contact list
I have been using Windows Mail and just installed and am now using Outlook. Is there a way to move my Windows Mail contacts to Outlook? -- Jose
3.Windows Live Mail Desktop - Can't create or edit contacts or send to people in contacts list
I have this problem, which I have been back and forth with Microsoft Support with. I have the latest Windows Live Desktop Mail Version installed on XP SP2, and I installed IE8 Around that time, I have problems sending emails. I worked out it was only to people that were in my contact list. It syncs the contacts from my hotmail account. I uninstalled IE8, uninstalled IE7, reinstalled IE8, Uninstalled WDM twice, repaired. Deleted contacts folder so it is recreated. Done everything I can think of, and so far MS support can think of. Outlook Express works fine, though doesn't sync contacts. IE WDM contacts, I can't export, I can delete, but if I try to create a new contact it crashes, or if I try and edit a contact. I have Avast personal AV installed, Windows Firewall., pretty basic machine, some music software which is incompatible with SP3, so I uninstalled SP3 a few months ago Anyone else had this issue and fixed it ? Chris
4.Windows Vista Mail Contacts: "To:" or "CC:" does not show all contacts
Hi, I just switched to Windows Vista and transferred all my Contacts (several 100) from Outlook Express to the Windows Contacts. When I want to create a Mail, I click on "New Mail", then on "To:" or "CC:". Strangely, the dialog that opens shows only parts of my contacts and without folders. Where do these contacts come from and how can I teach Vista Mail to use my Windows contacts? Tnx very much Karl
5.Contact list does not show up on Mail pane
in XP, it would show a list of your contacts along the left side of Outlook Express. It was easy to click on the contacts name to initiate an email to them. Is this an option on Vista Mail? I cannot find it.
