  • 3. Windows Explorer Thumbnail View
I have Vista Ultimate 64-Bit, and for some reason today it stopped showing all image and video thumbnails. It tries to load them for a split second and then they disappear and am left with just the generic thumbnail view. I tried running disk cleanup and deleting thumbnails but that did not fix. I read some similar posts and have checked all my folder settings and have checked and unchecked everything that needs to be. I even ran system restore and that still didn't work. Any help from any one would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in Advance.

1.Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

I keep getting the "Program has stopped working" message with either of these
programs.
I have cleared all 3rd party drivers in the "Compatability" section.
I have a recollection that Nero 7 can interfere with these programmes, but
cannot find the article in the Discussion Group
I cannot find any details regarding constant crashing of the program anywhere.

I am running on Vista SP1

2.Windows DVD Maker - error loading DVD maker project file

I have several DVD projects on my computer but when I have been trying to
access them I get a message that says "Error loading DVD maker project file -
the background video file is not accessible the setting has been cleared".
Has anyone have any solutions - I am in the middle of doing a DVD for my
neice and I also have quite few old DVDs that I would like to access again?

Thanks from Down Under (Australia) !

3.Movie Maker crashes when dropping imported DVR-MS file on timeline

Copied here because someone suggested I had this in the wrong newsgroup ...
I've done this before with no problem but now it does not work. I recorded a
TV show using Media Center. I open Movie Maker and import the file. It's a
3.76 GB dvr-ms file. I can play the file in the preview with no problems.
When I drop the file on the timeline, I get an error message that just says
"movie make has stopped working". I've disabled all filters listing under
Tools and there is no change. I tried Create Clips and got the same error.
I think I had Pinnacle Studio installed the last time I did this and have
since uninstalled it but a couple of Pinnacle filters are still listed.
Anyone have any ideas what to try? Using Vista Home Premium SP1

4.Windows DVD Maker considers dvr-ms files as invalid

I have a Vista Media Center 32-bit, 2-CableCARD media center system. When I
attemped to burn a DVD from a Media Center Files (regular TV. Not HD, not
protected) I get the following message. I get this message for any one of
many recorded TV programs.
--------------------
Windows DVD Maker
Add Items
0 files were successfully added.
1 fiel could not be added.
The file <xxx> is not valid or is corrupted.
Where <xxx> is the actual name of the VMC file of type dvr-ms.
------------------------------------------
This file type shows in the selection for DVD Maker. This message pops up
within five seconds of choosing the file. It doesn't start doing anything.

I get a similar problem using Windows Movie Maker.
I am using the standard MS Codexs and a Lite-On 2x Blu-ray Burner LH-2B1S SATA

5.MAKING DVD IN MS MOVIE MAKER

I HAVE 140 SLIDES WITH MUSIC THAT I WANT TO BURN A DVD THAT I CAN PLAY ON MY
DVD PLAYER CONNECTED TO MY TV. WHEN I AM ABOUT TO BURN MY DVD, I FIND IN THE
PREVIEW THAT ONLY ABOUT 8 PICTURES ARE INCLUDED. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THEY ARE
DROPPING OUT. ALL 140 WERE REVIEWED PRIOR TO PUBLISHING MOVIE. THE DVD-R
HAS 4.7 GB OF MEMORY BUT THAT APPARENTLY IS NOT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE
PICTURES DROPPED OUT PRIOR TO LOADING THE DVD. CAN ANYONE HELP?
