  • 1. WMP - Cannot Play the File...After It's Already Begun Playing It
So I have this strange issue that's more of an occasional annoyance than a crippling problem. Sometimes (not always mind you; one of the quirks of the issue) I will begin playing a song in WMP 11, on Vista and everything is just fine. Then a situation arises where I would need to pause the song. Done. But, when I attempt to resume playback, I receive this error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Clearly this cannot be true, the file was being played just fine but a moment ago. Anyone know something here? Thanks.
  • 2. Unable to save wma. clips with Titles
Hopefully someone can offer some guidance. In just making a series of audo clips and inserting titles, I've received the "cannot save file" that so many have brought up in other posts. I am using Movie Maker via Vista. The interesting thing is that I have been able to save audio clips with titles in the past. Wondering if there was a checklist I should go through to try and figure out why I am now unable to save this files. Thanks in advance for any help.
  • 3. Trouble with playback of Burned DVD
I burned a dvd-r from home video using Studio 11. The DVD will play on a DVD Player but will not play from my computer. Help from Studio 11 indicates that Vista has a DVD decoder on it so the dvd should play using Windows media Center. Any Suggestions on what could be done to enable computer playback. BTW, I know the drive works since I play other DVD's on it.
  • 4. WMP Won't Stop Playing
When I watch a video clip or listen to music it keeps playing after I close WMP. How do I fix this?
  • 5. Album Art Size
I have made the effort to embed artwork in my mp3 files. 90% of the time, WMP 11 will show the artwork correctly. However, the rest of the time it only shows a postage stamp size picture, even though the artowork is approx 500x500. When I play said file in itunes, the artwork displays just fine. Also, when I check the tag info in WMP11, it does not show any art work. Any Ideas?

WMP adding media information

Postby Um9kbmV5IFRyb3R0ZXI » Fri, 08 Feb 2008 00:56:00 GMT

I am desperately trying to find out why my WMP wont add media detail to any
music cd i try to rip etc. I have searched the help pages and get the
following:

1.

Click the arrow below the Library tab, and then click More Options.
2.

In the Automatic media information updates for files area, select the
Retrieve additional information from the Internet check box.
3.

My problem, is that when i try do the above, the check box in question is
"grayed out" so it is impossible to change it.

I have WMP 11, and would appreciate any help.

thanks

Ah, it being greyed out should mean that that is disabled by policy. Is
this a work computer? Or did you use some crazy third party security tool?

1.Adding Media Information for videos in WMP 11 (newbie)

I see how to add/edit "Media Information" (metadata) for CD's in WMP 11, but
how do I do it for Videos? The only thing I seem to be able to edit for
Videos is the Title property, but lots of other properties are listed in the
Content tab of the Properties window?

What am I missing?

2.WMP 11 - Cannot add to library or find album information

First, when I try to "find album info" by right clicking the selection isn't
even available.
Second, when I try to add new music to the library, I don't see any
monitored folders. And when I add a folder and then hit OK the window just
disappears. Nothing is added.

I turned my computer off for a week while on vacation and now have these
issues. I've rebooted, changed settings for firewalls, etc. Deleted Temp
files and cookies, nothing seems to fix it.

Any help is appreciated.

3.Updating WMP 11 Media Information keeps giving incorrect informati

Okay I have some mp3 tracks from various artists on a cd that I burned, I am
trying to get these files to show the correct media info in WMP11 and be
located in the correct artist/album folder in the music folder. The files
constantly rename and relocate when I try to use the update info function. I
have tried every possible combination in library options and searched through
media info help and microsoft website help. I tried putting the correct info
in the file properties, advanced tag editor and in WMP itself but they
constantly change whenever I try to update to get missing info like cover
art. Any help with how to get media info to stick is appreciated.

4.Updating WMP 11 Media Information keeps giving incorrect infor

Yeah but the problem is they don't keep the same information. I don't want to
turn off automatic rename and sorting because I need it to download album
arts etc for my other cds.

When I rename all the tracks myself it and then try to update info to get
missing info it still resorts the tracks back into one album, why is WMP so
stubborn at remembering which individual tracks came from which cd but not
what info I have manually added in properties, WMP and advanced tag editor?

Anyway I managed to import my cd with iTunes and then added the individual
tracks to the WMP library by searching for them.. This way they all keep my
self inputted info. If only I had the ability to update track info one track
at a time I wouldn't need another app to intermediate.

The option to update one track at a time should be available at my command
not just at WMPs whim.

5.WMP 11 won't find media information automatically

When i use the pulldown "tools" and select apply media information changes,
it automatically tells me the server is busy. i know i'm online because i can
manually click on an item and find album information. i just want to find the
album information on all of my music automatically. is the above mentioned
process the way to do this? if so, why is it saying the server is busy?
please lead me in the right direction.

thanks in advance.
