I also have the same problem everyone is describing. Nobody seems to know what the problem is and as this and other threads show, no one is responding. I also have spent several hours with support to no avail. I should have just kept my dlink 520 media lounge. Atleast it worked.

Is there a way to use Urge or any other music service to work in the 64 bit version of WMP? -- Iron Feliks

Whenever I try to play a video file in windows media center, it says that there is a problem and either closes or restarts. This extends from shows I tape off TV to DVDs to files I have downloaded to the files that came on the computer. It plays music fine and shows pictures without problem. WinAmp can play the video files I have downloaded without issue as well, though Windows Media Player does not work for video. It also seems to record television fine. I can see a thumbnail of the show afterwards, but if I try to watch it, it shuts down. The files it records to are also unable to play in WinAmp. Does anyone know what my problem is? It seems a windows software issue, but I can't find any drivers that are old and the media center itself is up to date.

What is the make and model of your {*filter*}?

Have you downloaded and installed the proper Vista drivers and software for your
SPECIFIC model from the manufacturer's web site?

1.MSN 7.5 webcam problem in XP (webcam in use, but isnt)

Hello,

(sorry for multi-posting in two messenger newsgroups, but discovered that
this newsgroup is covering XP-issues)

i bought a (cheap) webcam 2 weeks ago. It works with other software (like
photoshop), and also with a simple videorecording application that came with
the cam.

The problem that MSN thinks my cam is in use, and refuses to select the cam.
Sometimes MSN crashes when i go to the config-dialog.

I searched this newsgroup, and tried everything. I discovered that the cam
does work in Windows messenger (i can at least select the cam and see video
in the config dialog), so there must be something wrong with MSN.

Can somebody help me out? I bought the webcam to videochat with MSN..

Thanks in advance!

3.Webcam problems

A friend 7000 miles away has suddenly had her webcam stop working.

I got her to test it on another machine and it works fine so I know it's not
the camera

I got her to download the drivers again and reinstall them but that made no
difference either.

I also got her to plug the webcam in a different USB port but no success.

Any ideas will be welcome.

4.webcam problem

I have a laptop with a builtin webcam (BisonCam, NB Pro) and I am running
Vista Ultimate. I downloaded the latest drivers for the camera which claim
to work with Vista but when I install the driver, Windows Messenger freezes
and I cannot see the webcam image in any application (e.g. Skype). If I
uninstall the driver, Messenger works again.

Any solutions to this?

5.PC Camera, A4Tech, Webcam problem

Hi,

I have this old A4Tech Pk-35N that I have difficulty installing. The
computer always detect it as PC Camera, when it tries to look for
driver at Windows Update, It always got this Genius Look 315P. Even
when installing the exact drivers from A4Tech. It can't work as the
computer can't detect it. When I point to the .inf file for driver
list. No output. The installation file says I must remove/uninstall
original mouse
driver. But in vista and even xp, when you reboot, it automatically
reinstall mouse driver. But one time yesterday. I don't know what I
did, or it was accidentally, I was able to install the A4Tech PC
Camera H
drive and was able to use my webcam. But after rebooting it. I
couldn't again. Anyone got a clue? I use Vista and XP, and even when I
reinstall
XP and run their drivers, it still can't detect the Webcam. Know what
I must do or anyone encounters similar problem before?? Thanks.
