I know how to mute sounds permanantly until i unmute them. How do I mute the sounds when I turn my computer on and off, regardless of what the other sound options are? I know what I mean but I'm not sure if I'm saying it right. Thanks for any help

Yes but once I get there I don't see how to turn on and off. The 2 items themslves aren't clickable but when i click browse it shows a lot of files, not sure what to do, thanks for any help
those are your sound choices, select none to have no sound for the events you want quiet, or mute all sounds at the volume control if it's on your task bar, if it isn't go to control panel sounds and put it there
In the "Sounds" (Control Panel) options, choose "no sound" for those events. "northtoalaska05" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > wrote in

3."Turn off monitor" feature doesn't turn off monitor
I have my PC's Power settings configured to turn off the monitor after 20 minutes. The monitor never goes off though. I am using the correct driver for my monitor, a Hanns-G JC199D. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this? The vendor isn't able to assist, and I haven't found much info in searching for this issue. My OS is XP Media Center SP2. Thanks, Steve (my email address is bogus; direct all replies to the group)

5."Turn Off Computer" fails to turn off power
I've had this (Asus) system running with XP SP1 for quite a while. A fresh install of SP2 fails to turn off power when Start->Turn off Computer is selected. No flags under Dev Mgr->View->Show Hidden. I don't have any obvious options under Power Management. Another SP2 problem. Any way to fix this?
