In Windows Explorer go to Tools, Folder Options, File Types. Locate the file extension in question, highlight it and click Advanced. Check Confirm open after download. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows XP/ Windows Smart Display Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.**--****.com/ -------------------------------- Associate Expert ExpertZone - http://www.**--****.com/ -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit. 1.Always ask is now always save
I'm an XP novice and lost trying to find where to edit this setting. When attempting to download a file, I was getting an " always ask" prompt to " open or save to disk ". Being lazy, I clicked on save to disk. It appears now all my downloads are affected by tis change and I need to allow XP to to save the file before the application assigned to it will open. specifically, money2003 uses files with the extension QFX and Money2003 would open as soon as the download was complete. Now, I find I need to save the file to disk , then Money2003 will open. I am no longer prompted to open/save - it defaults to a save as screen and I would like to chenge it back to lways ask. thanks in advance !
2.WMP11 always asks Get Connected??
Hi, Ever since I installed WMP11, it runs the 'Get Connected' wizard every time I start WMP11. As it can't find a device, it's never able to complete. How do I stop it from bugging the hell out of me? I can't find anything about this in the FAQs or the help articles in MS support. Thanks, Andrew
3.Media player always asks for permission to stream in XP
When I click on a link for streaming an audio file, MP9 always asks permission even though I check the box that says to not ask again. Am I correct in assuming it's an XP security feature? Can I disable it so I don't have to click "Yes" every time? Thanks, Ed
