Hello~ I have question about EWF DISK. As you know, if I use EWF DISK, then there would be created EWF hidden disk area,in other words, overlay area. I imagine Critical scenario that Virus attack Overlay Area, and the User without information, committed. So system is in coma. To prevent this accident, I hope the Vaccine program which can protect overaly area from virus. (1) Is there any vaccine program which I expect? (2) or, To develope the vaccine program which can protect hidden overlay area, Does MS open its overaly area detecting methods? (Now, is it possible??) Maybe it could be foolish question, if anybody know in this part, please give me an idea~ Thanks! & Happy New Year!

I am having trouble installing the database engine on a computer at the moment. it always stops at the same point (with 2 seconds left on the progress bar) and tells me to look at the log file to figure out whats wrong, but the log file is huge and searching for 'error' and similar terms don't help me find whats wrong. does anyone have some suggestions or is it better for me to post the log?

  • 5. System.Management.ManagementException : Provider Load Failure
I have some code which works on a standard XP system, but fails on XP Embedded test machine. I get System.Management.ManagementException : Provider Load Failure // this is C# code likely the cause of the exception ManagementObject disk; disk = new ManagementObject("Win32_Logicaldisk=\"" + drive + "\""); disk.Get(); HDDsize = Convert.ToDouble(disk["Size"].ToString()); FreeSpace = Convert.ToDouble(disk["FreeSpace"].ToString()); I believe there is a missing component. Probably one of the WMI components. I don't know exactly. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Cannot remove mouse pointer!

My embedded system (SP1) runs on standard PC hardware and when booting, the
mouse pointer shows when I get the first blue-colored screen and stays there
when explorer comes up. Then when a full-screen (OpenGL) app runs, its still
there. Note: There is no mouse connected to the system! How do I get rid of
the pointer?

This topic has been covered many times in this NG:
 http://www.**--****.com/ +mouse+cursor

If you don't need mouse on the device, remove all support for it from the image (coinstall, class install, mouse driver, etc.)

The solutions dont really work for me. I need the mouse for maintenance
purposes so I cannot remove the driver. Also, I dont have access to the
source of the full-screen app and the other application that is running (that
I have acces to the source) is a console application....

You should read some [all] of the threads I sent you the link to. There have been posted lots of tricks how to hide mouse cursor
without removing the mouse support completely. E.g., mouse support is needed when a touch screen pointing device is attached but the
mouse functionality itself is not required.

For instance, you can set a transparent image for the curser under this reg key: (you can use nullmouse.cur)
[HKCU\Control Panel\Cursors],@.

Or, from your start-up (shell) app or a driver you have source access to, set mouse position to somewhere out of the screen area
(e.g. SetCursorPos(10000, 10000)).

1.Remove Mouse Pointer

I am using Windows 2000 on a touchscreen kiosk
application tha uses Windows Media Player 6 and a TV
Tuner card. I have removed the mouse pointer in both the
mouse settings and the touchscreen settings yet the mouse
pointer is still visible during Media Player, Internet
Explorer and the TV tuner sessions. It has been removed
from the desktop. How can I remove the pointer from
completely?
