PLEASE HELP ME !!!!! I am using XP and i have instaled Red Alert 2 without problems but when i install the expantion pack Yuri's revenge and come to play it comes up with "MAIN EXECUTABLE FOR YURI'S REVENGE HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE" and then shuts down. I cant be the only one who has seen this, OR AM I? Please help me play this great game.

I've be told I should have an AGP vid card, that some games won't run without it.. AGP is presently grey-ed out in my system. Does that mean I have to buy another vid card with AGP? What is AGP? I have installed call of duty on pc with xp. when I click to play it gets as far as the main menu and then a window appears showing "8 sound files are missing or in a bad format". Anyone seen this in the past? - 4. can not play games
Hi im not very good on pc so hope some one can help,i have just got 2 games but can not get them to run, 1 is conan and comes up unable to initialize scene rendere - 103 the other game is allis which comes up warning nothing will be renderd the referance rendering device was not selected but your computer only has a reduced functionality referance device installed, install the directx-sdk to get the full referance, if this makes any sense cauld some one help thanks does this help i have got a prosavage grphics card amd athlon (tm) xp 1800+ 1.54GHz 224 MB of RAM.

Hi Ian,
Try updating both the Game and the Expansion pack from the RA2 site.
Afterwards, if you still have issues...
Try installing and playing that using 95/98 Compatibility mode.
To install a program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode, hold
down SHIFT as you insert the game CD, use My Computer to browse
to the setup program, and then skip down to step 1 in the list below:
To run an installed program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode,
first right click the program and "Send To..." / Desktop (create shortcut).
1.. Right click on the shortcut to the program.
2.. Click on Properties.
3.. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4.. Click on Run this program in compatibility mode and select one of these:
a.. Windows 95
b.. Windows 98
c.. Windows NT 4
d.. Windows 2000
5.. Under Display settings, check mark the mode that you think that is best:
a.. Run in 256 colors.
b.. Run in 640 X 480 screen resolution.
c.. Disable visual themes.
Click on Apply.Click on Ok.Double click on the program.
AGAIN, let's not forget to check for any patches or updates for that game.

im having the same problem as ian, but i can't seem to find the correct site, or be able to get the updates, can anyone post me a thread. Yuri's revenge was working just fine 3 days ago, and now it has this error. Please help me out. RA2:YR is a 2D game - I think it probably uses DirectDraw. It runs slower with 0.9.16 and now the in game cursor flickers. Besides minor audio problems it ran fine in 0.9.15. I tried setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\DirectDrawRenderer to "gdi". It made no difference. Is that the corrent way to turn off the new DirectDraw changes?
5.[Wine] Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge much slower with 0.9.16
I found a work around: Changing my desktop bpp to 16. With that it runs as fast as on Windows! The clue was wine outputting "fixme:xrandr:X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode Cannot change screen BPP from 32 to 16". I looked at the code and it almost looks like bpp switching isn't implemented? So I guess there's some 16 bit to 32 bit blitting code somewhere in need of optimization or hardware acceleration.
