  • 1. 16 bit screen mode
Hi, i'm kinda new to all of this so here goes. I loaded MotoRacer on my computer but when I try to run it I get an error message "16 bit screen mode is required. Abort, Retry, Ignore." I have gone to Control Panel, Display, Settings and changed the screen mode to 16 bit (medium), clicked on apply, then ok and I am still getting the error message. The game ran fine when I first installed it, but now it won't run and I am getting kinda confused. Does anyone have the simple answer for me that I am most probably overlooking? -- Thank you in advance for your help. Oscorver

I've gotten this update stuck in my automatic update queue, and it will never complete successfully. I tried installing the update manually, and get an error stating "Setup cannot copy the file msmsgs.exe" and am asked for a different location to copy the file. I don't even use the Windows Messenger, it's been disabled since the day I turned my computer on so I could care less if it gets patched or not I just want to know how to get it out of my autoupdate queue so it will quit bugging me.
  • 3. One user account slow
I have a computer here that has four users on it. Three of them are working fine but the other one is dragging terribly. It takes forever for any application to open. When you close a window it just rolls off gradually from the top down. Sometimes leaving a blank space where it was which eventually fills back in. If I check Task Manager when a program is trying to load, system idle process is always from 95-99, so I can't get a clue from there. Basically all the processes that are running are the same ones that are running in all the other user accounts. It's XP Pro, SP2. 2.4 Ghz, 256 Mb ram. Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening in just ONE user account? -- --- A Freudian slip is when you say one thing but mean your mother. ---

Your problem has to do with Outlook and it's settings and NOTHING to
do with XP. You need to ask in a group with OUTLOOK in the title.

Ask elsewhere

1.Problem grouping Outlook emails with Outlook and not Word in the taskbar grouping Options

I am using Office Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Professional. Until this
morning, all my open Outlook windows, such as New messages, drafts,
replies, forwards, used to be grouped with the Outlook icon in my
taskbar (set to Microsoft Word as my default email editor, if I
uncheck that option it then groups with Outlook). All of a suddent
they are being grouped with Microsoft Word in the taskbar. I would
like to change it back so they get grouped with Outlook and kept
separate from non-email Word documents. I've looked
at options in Word and Outlook, but have not been able to figure out
how to do this. Everything else (Excel, IE, etc.) gets grouped as
before. It is only the email edit windows that have changed. I tried
resetting my taskbar to the default settings but that didn't do
anything. I checked my System Restore and it looks like (pretty much
right around the time this happened) that 3 Windows security patches
were installed: Windows XP KB944533, KB943055, and KB946026. Help!
Any ideas as to how to fix this problem?? I've search all over the
internet and cannot find any resolution to this.

4.Outlook Items grouped as Word Docs on Taskbar

For the last month or so, several of my users have reported that their
Outlook items, particularly draft emails, are being grouped on the Windows
Taskbar as Word documents. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to
fix it?
We're using XP Professional, SP2 with MS Office 2003.

5.Microsoft Word 2003 documents open on the Outlook Taskbar Grouping

Hello All,

This is my first post. We are using an exchange server here at work
and have one user who is experiencing a unique problem with office
2003, in particular Outlook and Word.

When opening a Word document the document at random intervals will
open over the top of the Outlook group in the taskbar and after a shot
period will disappear along with the document being worked on forcing
the user to re-open Word and the document from Autorecover.

I have tried the following to date:
 - Installed the latest Service Pack to their machine SP3
 - Have tried deleting the Normal.dot file to see if if the problem
has been caused by a corrupted template
 - Have tried using the "Detect and Repair" tool on both Word and
Outlook.

the problem is still re-occurring however. I would like to avoid
uninstalling and re-installing the two programs as it means re-
associating PST files etc.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems and can
point me in the right direction to continue fault diagnosis.

Regards,

Chris
