  • 1. Saving Complete web pages to the hard drive with pics etc....
Hello, How do I save a complete web page to my hard drive? When I click on Save as in IE I get Save as 1.) Web Page Complete 2.) Web Archive, Single File 3.) Web Page HTML only. I don't really understand what the difference is between these three. For example....when I choose "web page, complete" (What seems like the obvious choice) and then I go and look in the destinationfolder, I just see what "LOOKS LIKE" a link. Well....a LINK is not what I want. I would think that it would create some kind of a folder etc with all the parts in it. Is that what is happening behind the scenes somehow? Are the other parts of the page stored elsewhere on my hard drive and there is just a "link" to another part of my hard drive in the destination folder I have chosen to save to? I have been E-mailing complete pages to myself, but this is cumbersome. I just want to click a button and KNOW that ALL of the text, PICTURES and everything are saved. Which one of these is the best option? THANKS!
  • 2. repost of error recieved when installing software
I get the following error when I try to install certain software on my computer. C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT . The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. I am running Windows XP home on a P4 2.4 system with 1 gig memory The last time I got this error was when I tried to load the drivers for an Epson Stylus Photo 825. Previously I got the error when I tried to install a Recipe program. I tried to use the email option to contact Microsoft but because this version of Windows was installed on the computer by an OEM I cannot get past the part where it askes for a product ID. Even though the Manufacturer is now defunct! (Micro Pro PC) Miranda

add/remove program completely EMPTY !

Postby Bob Bedford » Thu, 08 Dec 2005 16:53:46 GMT

I'd like to remove some programs I've installed and I don't need anymore and
I've tried to remove them from add/remove panel in control panel.

When I click on it, it's written: please wait during list creation
(translated, sorry, it may be something else in the english version). and
then nothing. It doesn't freeze, I can change the sorting by other choices,
but it still show nothing other than this message.

I've waited up to 10 minutes and nothing, checking and unchecking "show
updates" changes nothing. Add/remove windows components works fine.

Please help !

1.why doesn't add remove programs completely remove files?

I messed up the settings on a program (audacity), so I uninstalled it
using windows add-remove, and reinstalled it. The reinstalled version
retained the same messed up settings.
Why doesn't Windows remove all the data when it removes a program? Is
there a way to do this?
Perhaps if I delete all references to the program in the Registry?

2.can't add programs or remove programs out of XP add/remove

When I try to add Fax Services as an XP Home SP 2 windows component in the
add/remove control panel, I get a
prompt for file fxsapi.dll. I can see the file in C:\Windows\Service Pack
Files\i386 but this setup routine says it can't find it even when I point it
to it. After I hit retry many times I try the other solution it asks for-
to insert the windows xp home service pack 2 CD-ROM. I do that and it says
it can't find the file on the CD either.

I've also tried removing MSN and it says it can't find certain files to
remove MSN either. What is corrupted? Service Pack 2? I have 3 other XP
computers and never had this problem before.

I use the Fax Service all the time so this is sort of important for us. Can
anyone help?

3.Add or Remove Programs is completely blank

I have Win2k3 Server and when I try to use the Add or Remove Programs tool,
it's completely blank (i.e. no listings of any installed programs). What
happened that could have caused this? I'm completely stumped (and cannot
un-install some programs).

4.Completely unable to install IIS in add and remove programs

I have been trying to install IIS for 3 days now using the Add and Remove
programs feature.

1. I go to Control Panel and call Add and remove programs.
2. I click on the "Windows Components" button and when the list appear I
select IIS. It greys because only some components will be installed without
manual selection
3. The Install starts and runs untill it's time to copy the 1st file from
the SP2 files folder. It says it cannot copy it, but it shows me the file it
"cannot copy" as being present.

4. I look in the SP2 files folder in Windows. All the files it needs are
there. None of them can be copied by the install procedure

I have re-installed SP2 and also copied their files to a CD and tried to use
that as an install service.

No luck. Has anybody got any idea what I might do next?

5.Add/Remove programs almost empty..

Hi (and Help!),

Suddenly when I click Controlpanel->Add/remove programs only 25% of the
programs that were previously listed here are now listed. I have not
uninstalled the missing programs of course, they have just gone missing from
this list.

I have no idea as to why this is the case. Does anyone have any ideas? Is it
possible to recreate the list somehow?

The only thing I have done that I can think of made this happen was to
delete the config.msi directory from my D: partition (not touching anything
on system partition C:) and deleting some old keys in the registry pertaining
to previously uninstalled programs I know were no longer present on my system.

Please help.

Thanks!

/P
