I'm trying to create a basic NT command script that will run some executable files for driver installs. I cannot find any help on a list of available switches to use for these exe files. Basically, I would like to know if there is a switch that will prevent the exe from rebooting the computer when it is complete. I have the Silent Install switch '-s' but that is the only one I know of. Nathan

not answering your question but share an experience with my old bad DVD

I had an DVD multi-writer from retail plus. it behaved like yours. Called
the vendor tech support, They told me it has trouble with the laser. after
couple of weeks, it literally died. Fortunately, it was on warranty and I
got it replaced.

Your problem may be the same, maybe it something else. Have you tried
reading a perfect good CD?
also could be caused by virus or improper driver.....

1.DVD-RW Drive Shows up as DVD-RW and CD-Drive in Windows Explor

Andy,

Thanks, but it didn't work. I deleted the E: and G: drives as instructed
and rebooted. However, the G: drive came back.

2.DVD-RW Drive Shows up as DVD-RW and CD-Drive in Windows Explorer

I have a weird situation going on with my DVD-RW drive. I have a Sony
DRU-710A DVD-RW drive installed on my machine with no other optical drives
installed. For the last couple of weeks, the drive has been showing up twice
in Windows Explorer with two different drive letters. It shows up as drive
as a DVD-RW (Drive E:) and as a CD-ROM (Drive G:).

I have made sure that I am running the latest firmware version of the drive
and I have not made any changes to the system or installed any new software.
Sony's support could not provide any useful information.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this issue? I am running
Windows XP Home with SP2 installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My system does not recognize my dvd+rw,dvd, or cdrw
drives ( 3 of them). They were working fine Friday and
now I have the yellow exclamation point on all three.
The do not show up in the My computer section. The only
thing that is different is a installed a Pinnacle PCTV
pro pci card friday. The are still attached to the built
in controller with power connections. Things just keep
getting better and better. Hope someone can help. Thank
you

4.DVD RW Drive not recognized as recordable let alone a DVD drive

Sony DVD RW DW-U14A drive, plugged in, Windos has
recognized it as merely a CD ROM drive and will not see
it as the drive it is. The help on the M$ site did not
help (changing the registry did nothing) and it wont read
CD ROMs.

any help?

5.blank cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r, and dvd-rw unrecognizable in drive

All of a sudden my pc won't recognize a blank cd or dvd, yet it will
recognize a software cd or any that I've already recorded on. Light will
blink as if it's trying to read it, then quits. My pc actually read a blank
cd today and let me burn photos on it, first time in a month, put another cd
in, and nothing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled cd drive, I've done
everything listed on Troubleshooting Reading CD discs. I recovered my pc, but
not to factory condition, just to point of uninstalling all
non-factory-installed software programs. I've also tried different brands and
speeds of the cds with no luck. Any suggestions?
