  • 2. Default Viewer?
When I open a pic it opens in Paint. Is there a way to get the pics to open using PShop or other as a default viewer... then to switch back to Paint if I need that program for a different purpose..?? Thanks, -- Bill

I'm having problems while trying to "save as" pictures. I only have the option of saving as .bmp or .art. I have read the suggestions listed prior (checking registry) and .jpeg is listed under extensions. Any other suggestions?

SynchToy 1.1 doesn't like .NET 2.0?

I am trying to install SynchToy and I get a message saying it needs .NET
1.154 or something like that. I have Framework 2.0 installed. Do I need to
install 1.1 ?

Yes, you need indeed. No way around, yet.
Download ,NET 1.1 and install all hotfixes.

Many think that Net 2.0 supercedes Net 1.1. That isn't true. They are two
seperate things and SyncToy needs Net 1.1 even if you have Net 2.0
installed.

Thank you much guys! I installed 1.1 and it works fine. Now, I'll play with
it and see what other questions I have.

Is it really true that .NET 2.0 does not supercede 1.1? I do not believe so.

Of course one can not expect that all existing .NET 1 apps will be updated
to be compatible with 2.0 overnight. That implies that .NET 1.1 cannot be
replaced but will phased out.

It would be nice if the Synctoy folks would update their very useful "toy"
to be compatible with .NET 2.0 as well. It does not make sense to have to
install .NET 1.1 just for the sake of Synctoy if one already has 2.0
installed for other applications.

Thanks in anticipation!

Well, I guess it depends on what's meant by supercede. But installing Net
2.0 doesn't give you Net 1.1 functionality.

It's really true.

.NET 2.x "supercedes" 1.x in the sense that it should be used for new
applications.

But 2.x is not compatible with applications developed for 1.x, so you
eventually will need both.

When I installed Microsoft .NET 2.0 from Microsoft Update, I

Had to reinstall .NET 1.1 (and HotFix) to make Ghost happy.
Interesting that you need to and can have two versions at the same
time. Comments, anyone?
