How can I activate time script from Windows XP?
  • 3. Can't install XP, won't accept DOS comman
I have reformatted my harddrive to hopefully get rid of a lot of problems and to convert from Win98SE to XPHome, the full version, not the upgrade. I am using the startup disk from Win98 to attempt to install XP but it won't accept the DOS commands. I saw a fix for that on Microsofts website...e:\i386\winnt.exe It didn't work. Says its a bad command. How can I get it to install? I tried downloading a boot disk for XP but it won't fit on a floppy, it's ove 4MB.
  • 4. WinXP PRO Reboots
Looks like a hardware fault, and more precisely, probably a memory fault. If the machine has two or more memory sticks (DIMMS or whatever), remove all but one and see what happens. If it still reboots, swap that one for another, and so forth. If only one memory stick, buy another one and swap them and see. If not the memory, it is more likely the power supply. If you are in an area with bad power, make sure you have a UPS (surge protector power boards usually don't help much, particularly against brownouts which can still fry parts in your PC even though its protected against spikes). Gd lck aardvark >-----Original Message----- >Hello > My sister's computer won't reboot properly. It gets stuck in this infinite loop of rebooting. F8 does not change anything the system reboots either way. I tried to get her to use the WinXP startup disks to repair windows but when it gets to the point where it examines the computer configuration it just reboots again. So I had her take the HD out and take it home where she stuck it into our parents comp. From there she formated the c: partition on that HD (which now showed up as F:) and reinstalled windows and actually booted from that partition. After that she put it back in her computer and it's still doing the same thing (FYI: There are two partitions on that one HD). I'm running out of ideas anyone have any suggustions. >. >

component updates in SP2

Postby Mark Scott » Fri, 13 Aug 2004 02:02:02 GMT

Aside from the security bits and bobs, what has been updated by the way of
Middleware in SP2?

DO we have MP9, DX9, IIS6 and DOTNET 1.1 built in?

From what I've seen with my clean Slipstream install of SP2.

MP9 - yes, DX9 - yes, IIS6 - not sure didn't check the version number, it's
not installed by default though, DOTNET 1.1, no I downloaded it via
WindowsUpdate after the clean load. It might be in the windows components
somewhere, but I didn't see it and it's not installed by default.

Thanks Paul. certainly is good to not see any security updates in Windows
Update :) There is an IIS6 cabinet file in the i386 folder so looks
promising

I'm installing sql 2005 and it requires sp 2. However, the download for sp 2

However, windows update does not have a sp 2 but a bunch of components that
could possibly make up sp 2. Any suggestions?

4.Component Designer - Updating Components.

Been using this for a while, but have a silly question, i'm sure there
is a simple answer.. Havn't had any formal XPe training, as my company
is too tight to pay for it :-)

if I want to update my released components with new file versions, what
is the general procedure? I have tried simply copying the new files
into the source directory, then "Upgrade Component" in component
designer, then importing into my database, but I get errors about not
being able to delete the existing repoditory. This leads me to believe
I need a new repository? Is this this correct? Where does the package
fit into this? Do I need a new package also?

Anyone got a simple step by step guide to updating self authored
components?
