  • 1. Fast video playback after standby
Hi, Every time I use the hibernation or standby features and then turn on my PC again for re-use all the sound and video from my PC are played at high speed (4 or 5 times normal speed at least). This applies to all the sounds from the windows mouse 'click' to playing files on WMP or Realplayer etc. The problem is fixed by a reboot, but this kinda defeats the whole point of using the standby feature! I am running Windows XP Home SP1 (the problem also occured before I installed SP1) on a Packard Bell Imedia 4506. The problem has been with me since day one, but has not bothered me before as I have only just started using the shutdown features. Can anyone help ? Thanks Ed,,

  • 4. Stills capture?!?
Every time I try still-capture on XP Home (with any movie format) the player appears on the captured image no problem, but the movie area (the bit I want) just appears as a black box. I've tried loads of different screen-grab programs. Any ideas please??? I'm using a Compaq Presario 2504 laptop, ATI Radeon Mobility card, XP Home. Cheers

Geforce 5200 garbles plasma screen after upgrade

Postby UGVyTA » Sat, 14 Oct 2006 20:31:02 GMT

Hi
Beginning to get desperate now. I upgraded my MCE computer couple of days
ago. Only kept TV-card, audio-card and graphics card. Everything ran fine
until I switched from the little 15 inch screen I used for setup and tuning
and connected my 42" plasma upstairs.

I can see the computer startup BIOS sequence, I can see the Windows VGA mode
startup screen, but when the Windows desktop loads the screen gets all
garbled with areas either black or with horisontal mostly white stripes.

I have tried all possible (?) settings for the graphics card (a Geforce
5200) with different nVidia driver versions, but they all give similar
results. I don't have any more ideas, why does the card not work in the new
computer as it did in the old one?? What am I missing here?

Did you remember to install the motherboard chipset utilities drivers
package?

Honestly, what's that? Never heard of! What kind of utilities is it?

They are the files which tell Windows exactly what hardware is on your
particular motherboard and install the correct drivers for them.... ie the
onboard sound, the onboard ethernet, the AGP or PCI-E slot, the IDE
controller, SATA controller and anything else that you might have.

Bottom two thirds of screen flicker left-to-right when certain applications
are open, or several windows are lying on top of each other.

Particularly bad when viewing IE windows on top of full-screen iTunes.
Interestingly, only certain web pages cause the flicker to occur.

Games also bad.

"Dull" software like Word and Exel all fine. Screen is perfectly stable.

Contacted GeForce and Formac, each of whom blamed the other and were of no
use whatsoever.

Am running pretty new PC, Intel 4 with 1GB RAM plus 128MB graphics RAM.
Loads of HD space remaining. OP is XP.

Many thanks for any help!

3.Geforce fx 5200 black screen upon windows load

I've tried two different video cards since upgrading to XP.
Both are nvida based cards . I have an Athlon 650mhz .
Gigabyte 7ix motherboard with AMD 751 chipset. Have flashed tyhe
bios....updated tons of drivers. THe geforce 2 pro video card I had on win
98se worked fine till I upgraded to xp . Now I've bought a geforce fx 5200

The only way to run the computer is to go in in safe mode and disable the

4.GeForce FX 5200 card not recognized after upgrade to WinXP Pro

I recently upgraded from Windows XP Home to WinXP Professional. After installation the system will not recognize that I have the video card installed. It still displays thru the monitor but does not show the card in device manager or when I attempt to "Add new Hardware." Can anyone assist me with this problem please? Thanks in advance.

5.Nvidia GeForce 5200 causing problems upgrading XP

I have a HP system running XP home edition with a nvidia
GeForce 5200 FX video card. I tried upgrading the home
edition to professional. During the upgrade the system
reported that I needed updated drivers for the Nvidia
nforce filter and then quit the setup. I tried everything
from downloading the latest drivers from nvidia site to
changing the actual card to an old S3. The system will
simply not upgrade to professional edition and continues
to complain about the nvidia video card.

Any help will be greatly appreciated
