I have a sony vaio (P42G, 512 ram, d drive with 17G) I have no problems capturing from my CanonZR25 video camera and also no problems editing and saving to computer. The problem occurs when I attempt to save back to camera. At different points in the videos the capture screen on the cam goes blue screen before the video is actually finished copying. The camera keeps recording but no video. Once in a while the picture will come back but just for a second and the again blue screen. I have updated to the latest DirectX, played with hardware acceleration, disabled various codecs, and have the latest video drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I tear out what's left of my hair and launch the laptop out the window :-) Mark

2.Sometimes It Just Won't Play

I have the latest updates to XP with lots of RAM. I can boot up my PC and
play multi-media files just fine for a while. Then, when I click another
file to play it just won't play. If I come back to it later it may play
fine. If I reboot it will play fine, as will several others. Then I click on
a file and it won't play again. Sometimes it will restore functionability
after a while and sometimes I have to reboot. CPU usage and processes don't
show any issue. Any clues?

3."No CD in drive" -- won't play CDs sometimes

This has absolutely nothing to do with Windows XP or copy protection. This
happens from time to time with CD/DVD players. Just make sure that each CD
is clean before you insert.

4.XP: "No CD in drive" -- won't play CDs sometimes

Hi

I'm using an new laptop with XP Pro and Windows Media Player 10, which
sometimes won't accept perfectly good CDs.

I get "No CD in drive" -- and they just won't play. I'm not sure but I
think it's some kind of copy protection.

But I paid for my CD's and I want to play all my music off my laptop like an
Ipod using Win Media Player.

Any suggestions why I'd be having this problem and how I might fix it?

Your helpful comments would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks for your kind help

Sam

5.Sometimes a DVD will Play, other times it won't

I have two computers, one with Windows 2000 and a Radeon
All in Wonder Card, and one with Windows XP Pro with a
Radeon All in Wonder card. I use the same Toshiba DVD-
ROM drive, transferring it from one machine to the
other. On my WinXP machine, I can't play certain DVDs,
but on my Win 2K machine, I can. However, other DVDs
play fine on both. For example, Galaxy Quest won't play
on XP, but Castaway will. Also, I can play my own home
video SVCDs on my WIN2k machine and you guessed it, not
on my WinXP machine. However, if I take the Mpg2 file
off of the CD and put it on the hard drive, it plays. Or,
if I navigate to a vob file on the DVD, I can play it
through both Media Player and PowerDVD, but neither will
play from the menu. The probelm DVDs will just hang and
freeze the XP machine until I eject the disk. Of course
I've tried the troubleshooter and I've read about 100
newsgroup messages, but I have yet to find this problem
mentioned.
